16 Wishes

Abby Jensen, who was eager to grow up, had been planning for her sweet 16 ever since she was a little girl. She had a list of secret wishes that she wanted to come true. When the big day finally arrived, she excitedly added her 16th and final wish to the secret wish list she had been keeping: a photo of Logan, her crush.

Then, began the first of many unusual occurrences, each include visited from a peculiar woman, Celeste. She first appeared as an exterminator when the Jensen's house got overrun by wasps from a nest in their attic that had been building up for 16 years. The Jensen families were now unable to go back into their house until the wasps were exterminated, however, Celeste managed to extract Abby's wish list from the house.

Abby's best friend, Jay Kepler, appeared and offered Abby a jacket to wear over her pajamas, as she was unable to go back into her house to change. When Abby reached into Jay's jacket pocket, she found a birthday present for her from Jay. It was a necklace with a half of a heart saying "BFF". Jay had the other half which he used as a charm on his key ring. As Jay and Abby went to their bus stop, a delivery truck pulled up, and Celeste came out dressed as a mail woman and gave a package to Abby. When Abby opened it, she discovered 16 candles and a matchbox. Unwilling to ride the bus to school, Abby lighted the first candle and wished for a new car, the eighth wish on her list. However, her first wish, meeting Joey Lockhart, the hottest celebrity, was fulfilled. Abby then realized that the candles corresponded to her 16 wishes on her list and that they were each coming true every time a candle was lit.

Celeste later said that after midnight all wishes would then became permanent. Abby landed the attention of Logan, got a Ford Mustang she was always dreamed of, she got back at her lifelong nemesis, Krista Cook by beating her in a volleyball match, then getting elected as Student Body President, even though she didn't sign up for the elections. Also, she was suddenly fashionable, athletic, and popular.

During classes, Abby remembered that she needed the perfect dress for her 16th birthday party and decided to go out and bought it, together with Jay, who agreed to pay for it. They were followed by Krista, who decided to see where Abby's sudden good luck came from, and when Jay dropped his wallet she took it. She also convinced the store clerk that they were not going to buy anything and were just wasting her time. The clerk believed her and kicked them out. While in the changing room, Abby used the ninth candle and made a wish to be treated like an adult, which instead, made her an adult. This turns for the worse for Abby as it resulted in her not being allowed to attend high school anymore and no one at school remembered her, not even Jay. Her parents also bought her a new apartment and left her to live on her own.

Regretting her wish, Abby tried to look for a solution by going through her wish list, though none of them were useful. Abby went to Krista's Sweet 16 and convinced Jay that they were best friends by showing him the birthday present he gave her which restores his memories of her, though, Jay couldn't help her. Desperate, Abby sought the aid of Celeste, who was also unable to help her. Celeste then explained that there were several rules of magic, and one of them was that a wish cannot be undone. Abby eventually found a loophole through the rules, seeing as how her last wish was a picture of her crush, glued on with gum, which seemed to act as a "barrier" between the picture and the rules. She switched the picture for a picture taken that morning of her and wished she could go back to that morning.

Abby's life then went back to normal, along with some dead wasps in the process. Abby gave her money to Mike, saying that he needed a real guitar. Abby went outside finding Krista carrying posters saying 'Vote For Krista'. She and Krista reconciled after Krista told Abby why she hated her (Back in the 3rd grade, Abby and Jay made a pact to be best friends forever, leaving Krista out, though up until that point, Krista and Jay had been best friends). Abby and Krista had combined Sweet 16 party and Krista and Logan got together. Abby and Krista stopped competing and worked together to make the person who truly deserved to be Student Body President: Jay. Then on Abby and Krista's sweet sixteen party, Jay and Abby shared a kiss together and Abby said she had everything she could ever want. Then the bloopers came out.

GENERIC STRUCTURE

a. Orientation :

Abby Jansen was a little girl. She lived with her parents. She had a list of secret wishes for her sweet 16 that she wanted to come true. Abby and Jay were best friend since they were 3^rd grade. And Krista was her enemy.

b. Complication :

·      One day, a peculiar woman, Celeste, appeared as an exterminator when the Jensen's house got overrun by wasps. Celeste managed to extract Abby’s wish list from house. She gave Abby 16 candles and matchbox, and the wishes of Abby were coming true every time a candle was lit, but after midnight all wishes would then became permanent.

·      Every wish of Abby was fulfilled. But when Abby used the ninth candle and made a wish to be treated like an adult, many problems appeared. She was not being allowed to attend high school anymore and no one at school remembered her, not even Jay. Her parents also bought her a new apartment and left her to live on her own. Abby wanted to go back in her normal life. But, the magic couldn’t be undone.

 c. Resolution :

·      Abby found a loophole through the rules, she switched the picture of her crush in a last wish for a picture taken that morning of her and wished she could go back to that morning.

d. Re-orientation :

·      Abby's life then went back to normal. She and Krista reconciled and they were stopped competing and worked together to make Jay as a Student Body President.

·      Abby and Krista had combined Sweet 16 party and Krista and Logan got together, then Jay and Abby shared a kiss together.
