Review Text : Diary of a Wimpy Kids - Rodrick Rules

Diary of a Wimpy Kid : Rodrick Rules

Orientation :
This movie are adapted from Jeff Kinney's best-selling series of kid-lit picture books. This movie directed by David Bowers and produced by Fox 2000 pictures. This movie  realized on 25 March 2011. The genre of this movie is comedy and family with 99 minutes duration.  There are many characters in this movie, such as Greg (Zachary Gordon), Rodrick (Devon Bostick), Mom (Rachael Harris), Rowley (Robert Capron), and Dad (Steve Zahn).

Interpretative Recount :
Greg Heffley's was a junior high school student. He usually wrote any story in his diary, or he called “journal”. His diary started in summer and the misery of being on the swim team (his father's idea). His friend Rowley had gone on another exciting vacation that Greg doesn't want to hear about. His little brother, Manny, and his parents were still tending to drive him crazy.

However, Greg's biggest problem was his big brother, Rodrick. Rodrick “rules” because he “was the only one who knows about this REALLY embarrassing thing that happened to Greg over the summer, and he had been holding it over Greg head ever since." Despite this worry, Greg continued on his goofy way, dealing with school, bullies, homework, and family, especially Rodrick.

Ultimately, the secret got out. However, due to all the changes in the description of Greg’s secret as it passed from person to person, it was no longer something that was an embarrassment to Greg.

Despite all the teasing that went on between Greg and his brother, they still care for one another. By the book's end, when push came to shove, Greg had set aside his animosity and tried to help Rodrick when he needed it.

Evaluation
It was a light-hearted, energetic film about adolescence and childhood that really captured what it's like being in junior high. Kids worry about the silliest things, but at that age, popularity, coolness, and being liked by your peers are the most important things on earth.

The focus here is less on Greg and Rowley and more on Greg and Rodrick. DIARY OF A WIMPY KID 2: RODRICK RULES seems to actually get what it feels like to be a middle-schooler with older and/or younger siblings.

This  film is funny and lively enough (particularly when the visuals are switched to Kinney's famous stick-figure illustrations) to win over any newcomers to the fold.

Overall, it's fast, funny, and effective and will probably please fans

Evaluation Summation :
This movie presented with a funny plot,  funny characters, wonderful actors, fun performances, and good cartoon illustration which help to visualize the characters during their adventures .

Language : Some dialogue of this movie uses insults include “jerk”, “lame”, “looser”, “doofus”, “fart”, and “burt brain”
Violence : Some bullying and threatening happens in this movie.

Passion : Some minor flirting, as Greg had a crush on his pretty new girl in school

Consumerism : The kids in this movie seem to eat a lot of junk food, such as coca-cola, cheese curls, candy bar, and etc

Drinking, drugs, and smoking : Rodrick made a teens party, and they were seen drinking an alcohol. In one scene, Rowley lyp-syincs to Kesha’s song “Tik-tok”, which include lyrics about partying and drinking.

Over all, this movie is worth watching.
